Company Profile

Madison Lawrence Industries, Inc. opened its doors in March 2002. It was the dream of Leonard McTier, President of Madison Lawrence Industries, to open his own business after being in the janitorial industry for 29 years.

Mr. McTier had successfully run operations for several janitorial companies and was certain, with his experience; he could own a company for himself. Mr. McTier with the assistance of Lawrence Martin formed Madison Lawrence Industries, Inc. Mr. Martin has an extensive business background and used his knowledge and experience to help Mr. McTier establish Madison Lawrence Industries, Inc. With a very small but loyal staff, Mr. McTier began doing post construction clean-up and odd jobs here and there to keep the company moving forward.

A New Direction

In August of 2002, Mr. McTier was looking to put the company in a new direction. He consulted with Malcolm R. Dunn, who was a successful graduate of the 8(a) program and who has since not only become a mentor for Madison Lawrence Industries, Inc has also been of great financial assistance when needed. Mr. Dunn advised Mr. McTier to apply for the SBA 8 (a) and HubZone programs. At once, Mr. McTier contacted Mr. Simms from the SBDC and sat with him for many hours to painstakingly fill out applications. Mr. Simms was instrumental in assisting Madison Lawrence Industries get its 8(a) and HubZone certifications in October of 2002. Once Mr. McTier was accepted into both programs he began doing contract work for the government almost immediately.

Madison Lawrence Industries, Inc has been awarded many contracts with the 8(a) and HubZone programs. One of the most notable contracts the company has received is the cleaning contract with the Military Academy at West Point. Madison Lawrence Industries, Inc has cleaned prior to visits at the academy from George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld just to name a few.

Although Mr. McTier was familiar with only janitorial service he shrewdly registered for both the janitorial and full food service program with the SBA hoping an opportunity would present itself with food service one day. This insightful move finally paid off. In February of 2007, Madison Lawrence Industries teamed up with Watson Services, Inc, who has over 20 years experience in food service and is also a graduate of the 8(a) program to receive its first Full Food Service Contract for the United States Navy in New Orleans, LA.
